Originally imagined as a little, French country house restaurant in Edmonton’s most southern tip, The Almanac evolved from its original concept into a French inspired gastropub on Edmonton’s popular Whyte Avenue. Having opened its doors in late December of 2015, The Almanac is a new addition to the Whyte Avenue scene, but one that brings together Old Strathcona’s love of music and independent businesses with a great beer and cocktail selection, and a relaxed, unpretentious ambiance.
Together, operating owners, Josh Meachem (bar manager), Alysha Couture (executive chef) and Dominque Moquin (front of house), are working to make The Almanac an inclusive and interesting addition to Edmonton’s music and restaurant scene, while also showcasing a unique, owner operated experience. Josh says that when owners are hands-on, working in their restaurants, customers obtain a better quality experience overall from food through to service.
