I was very appalled at the condition of the floors and the plexiglass between the tables. With the restaurant been closed for so long due to covid, you would think a deep clean would have been done.
Flashback Diner has terrific food, the breakfast is always hot and enjoyable. The staff is second to none, go out of the way to be helpful, courteous & friendly.
Very good, cheap breakfast. The toast was the only down side to it, it was really mushy and soaked in butter. The bacon and eggs were great. I'd recommend going for brunch. Service was alright. Food was overall great for the price, and i absolutely loved the 50's 60's feel.
We were in Barrie for EcoFest Barrie and stopped here for the kind of breakfast that would last us through a busy day.... It was EXACTLY as I expected.... the food was typical "diner" style, the waitress was excellent - very friendly and accommodating and the decor was great with lots to look at!
When we got to Flashback diner it was around 2pm on a Saturday. It was fairly busy, surprisingly for the time of day. My husband and I were seated fairly quickly and enjoyed watching the tv at our table, though we wouldn't have minded some sound I can understand why they would have that off. Our waitress made us feel important and took really good care of us. She asked us often if everything was okay or if she could get anything else for us. Also, I have an allergy to wheat and mentioned this when we came in and she suggested modifications for the meal I was getting. Instead of just saying I couldn't have toast she offered to replace the bread with sliced cucumbers or tomatoes. She made me feel like I wasn't being an inconvenience unlike so many other restaurants out there. The portion sizes were very good and the price was great too! :) Will definitely return again.
Your typical breakfast joint. Inexpensive, decent service, and decent food. Was a little crowded and had a bit of a wait to get seated, but overall I enjoyed it for what it was.
Great food and great service. Would definately recommend the clubs, fresh cooked turkey, and there is no doubt why they were voted barrie's favourite breakfast so many years in a row. the breakfast was amazing. We eat there everyweek now.
Excellent Ambiance and Location and the food is tasty and filling
I have been looking for a good breakfast place in town and this could definitely be it. Professional staff who are not hung over like their competitors' staff, quality food that doesn't taste like it was bought at the supermarket. Cleanliness, and top notch speedy service. A wonderful atmosphere. 5 stars by me!
Service was a little slow, but it was busy. Food is excellent, definately worth the wait for breakfast and great value.
Not the best place in town, but the price is great, and service is reaosnable considering it is allways packed. the wait can be a bit long though.
I would have to say that the food wasn't anything particularly special...but it wasn't bad. Just nothing praise-worthy is all. As for the service...it too was alright. I give it a 5 based on one member of my party having issues with the waitress. While I felt she was being fairly sociable...in a teasing/Flo from the dinner series Alice back in the 70's kind of way...he didn't seem to find it as amusing. That said...she was by no means abusive, just "folksy". There seem to be two things really against this diner though. 1) Location. It is VERY difficult to get in and out of the parking lot for this restaurant due to two factors...first...its right at the corner of a major intersection/off-ramp junction on the busiest street in Barrie (Bayfield) and 2) For some unknown reason when they built the driveway entry from the street...they must have figured everyone in Barrie drives a monster truck. The slope leading into the parking lot is so steep that unless you drive a car with 16 inch wheels and a lift kit added to your suspension...YOU WILL HEAR SCRAPING of the underside of your front end as you turn into it.
I like the food at this place. You get a lot when your order something. The waitress was nice but she wasn't too fast. As soon as we walked in the door it was packed. Would be a lot better if it was bigger.
This is the second time I tried to eat breakfast at this establishment. None of the staff acknowledged that we were standing waiting to be seated. I realized that it was busy but the staff chose to ignore us completely. Very poor customer service ie. people skills.
