Use to love this place 5 years ago and went there once a month. Just ate there for the first time in 5 years and everything tasted awful. The almond soo guy was hard as a rock and the sauce was lumpy. The fried rice tasted burnt. The mixed vegatable wasnt mixed at all, mostly celery a one carrot and two brocolli. Must have changed owners. Avoid!
Was craving chinese food, but just moved back and remembered the last time I ordered from here wasn't good. My brother picked up food from here anyways, and it was terrible. I used to love their fried rice, this was nothing like what it used to be. Even the type of rice is different, and it isn't fried, its just doused in soy sauce - the rice was even crunchy, the peas were not cooked. Just gross. The fried chicken balls (too doughy) and shrimp had a nasty aftertaste, like changing the oil was long overdu. The cantonese chow mein had nice sized shrimp in it, and the veggies were pretty good, but the noodles were almost mush, and the overall taste of the plate was totally bland. Fries and gravy were bland (white-ish gravy). Just too bad, that new ownership almost always means the demise of good restaurants. Pretty sure its been a while that this place is under new ownership, long enough to get their act together, but I don't see that intention. Will not ever eat here again.
We just moved here from Ottawa/Gatineau area. We tried SIlver China based on the reviews. My mom placed the order and she says mentioned to no seafood since my dad is deathly allergic. Unfortunately, when we received the order, we noticed there was seafood in everything, even the rice and noodles which I have never seen before. And my Dad was the one who treated us. When we called and explained all this, they said there is nothing they can do because the person who took the call said nothing was mentioned... So nothing was done, they didnt even offer to drop of a normal chicken fried rice... no rice, noodles or anything... So we decided to give the food quality a shot... the portions were SOOO SMALL that by the time I got to getting my plate, there wasnt much of anything left... We ordered a dinner for 6, it cost 70+$ and it all fit in 1 bag...the food wasnt even that great... anyways, we will not be returing. Maybe if the service was more client service oriented, we may have done a dinner for 2 once in a while, but no.... my search is still on for a decent chinese food place in Cambridge...ugh
After over 15 years of monthly orders of takeout from Silver China, we've sadly decided to give up on them. Our last two orders were horrible. They've changed everything so what made Silver China so incredible.. the chicken balls which were huge chunks of white meat in a thin dough are now huge chunks of dough with a tiny piece of chicken.. the chicken curry has shreds of chicken that seem to be leftover bits rather than choice pieces and the cantonese chow mein has a different noodle and not nearly as much meat. The lemon chicken was still good but there was less of it. Such a disappointment after so many years of having this as a favourite.
Just moved to the area and needed a new Chinese restaurant to go to. Silver China seems to be a good choice. The price is normal for this style of food and it's well made. I've had some terrible Chinese before so I'm glad this place actually turned out nice. Chicken balls are actually made in house like someone else mentioned which is a first for me. You're usually given the same old chicken balls everyone seems to order from the same supplier. On the weekends they're always busy so expect a bit of wait if you're ordering out. They told me 15 minutes one night, went there and ended up waiting another 25 minutes. Also one of the people working there had no idea what they were doing. Probably a new employee though. Have yet to eat in so can't comment on their service. Thumbs up!

This is the best chinese food restaurant in Cambridge, I have been going for about 20 years now, since moving here from Toronto Will definately continue to order food from Silver China KEEP UP THE GREAT COOKING!
They made me wait 2 hours for my food and the owner did not come out to tell me sorry, he hided in the back. The young white lady at the cashier was extremely rude, was not helpful at all, my order was mixed up with 5 other people. In the end after arguing, the cahsier going back and forth in the kitchen negotiating my problem with the " hiding owner" they claimed that all they can do is take $1 off my bill for me waiting 2 hours, and i am a very kind customer. DO NOT GO HERE!
We've tried all of the Chinese food places in Cambridge and we always return to Silver China -- the food and service cannot be beat!
I very enjoy the vist to silver china. the food was so great, the disdes are big, love the combination dish, spring roll and chicken wings are the best. the ower's wife is so nice and kind. I look forward to go again.

Great food. I especially appreciate that the chicken balls and breaded shrimp are made from scratch. None of the doughy things here. The food is not greasy and the lemon sauce is just right.
