This is my favourite place in Guelph to eat Thai, we order takeout from it at least once a week. The owners go above and beyond and the food is always delicious.
When it comes to dining I want fresh, tasty, authentic and a clean environment. The food was excellent, service was fast and friendly. This place is a hidden gem. Friends have recommended it repeatedly...and for good reason. The dining room is simple but I go to eat, not appreciate fixtures. The steady stream of take out customers we saw as we ate says a lot too.
We just went for lunch today, and opted for the buffet for $7.99 well.........it was just o.k nothing more, the spring rolls were the frozen little appitizer ones you can buy anywhere, the curry was watery, noodles dry and bland, rice cooker was filty, and you could barely tell it was trying to be Thai food! We came to the conclusion that it caters to the senior center across the street! not authentic and not worth it!
The peanut sauce was watery with bits of peanut in it which didn't work as a dip for the spring rolls and had no peanut flavour. Portions were small. Pad Thai was greasy and bland. The cashew chicken was also very bland except for the hot pepper bits in the sauce. Pangeang Curry was acceptable. In general I expect more flavour. Hot peppers are not the only flavour in the world and it seems that was all they had. There are other flavours!! We chose this restaurant on the basis of all the good reviews.
Thai Villa is one of the better Thai restaurants in Guelph. Their portion sizes are good and overall their Thai dishes were delicious compared to the other choices available in Guelph. Their drunken noodle was a little on the greasy side but still it was really good.
I'm in Guelph on business and looked up this restaurant here on Restaurantica. Excellent choice! I had the mango chicken stir fry. The veggies were cooked to perfection -- barely cooked. Chicken and mango were wonderfu too. If I'm ever back in Guelph I'll be sure to visit again.
