Our neighbourhood F & C shop recently changed owners and couldn't or wouldn't maintain the prior quality and friendliness.
So after a five-year absence we returned here and it's as good as ever. The forty minute drive is worth it for their better products.
The main opportunity to improve here would be having a distinctive tatar sauce that would set them apart from the competition. The boring packaged stuff they still use is poor and an insult to their fish.
Service is pleasant and helpful. The store is clean. We don't expect much more.
Years ago, they had this Asian guy that was the best. If he was off, the sister would cook but she cannot compare to the brother`s style. He would lay out the fish on the counter a bit--dunno why, maybe to let it thaw out from the cold water, who knows. The very first time I came home with 02 separate orders, my husband said, next time, order just one order of fries, this is overwheming. I said, I did !! The fries that came with each and every meal was overflowing with tasty fries, with no aftertaste at all. The new owners since Y2K are okay but I get sad going there--why go for just okay when I once had the best at that same place. If I could only save the first guy`s food in a time capsule--taste was A-1.
The fish was great! The batter was nice, not too thick or thin, just perfect. The haddock itself was delicious.
I didn't like the fries at all, they were super soggy.
We don't have fish & chips often but we get craving for it once in a while. It was our first time here, and we had take-out. The place was very clean and well kept.
The batter on the fish was really nice. (i don't like thick batter) the halibut was absolutely delicious. The fries were so soft and soggy, I didn't like them but my husband didn't mind them. They could've fried it longer. I liked their crunchy, creamy, sweet coleslaw.
I was mostly impressed by how clean their oil was. You can always tell if the oil is fresh or old by looking at the colour of your fried subject. They were the clean light colour.
I was dissapointed when they gave me packaged tartar sauce. It would've been nice if accompanied by their own tartar sauce considering they are known for their fish & chips. I wonder if it's because we did take out.
When the food is good, it's very good - when it's not, it's a bit on the greasy side and could be cooked longer but is still edible and tasty. However, we had been frequent visitors for a while, and tapered off solely because of the service. We do not find the current waitress professional or particularly friendly, and she is the sole reason we don't go more often. We often get the impression we're annoying her by showing up, or she's too busy chatting up regulars to serve others properly (not just us - we've seen it with others). If we're in the mood for fish & chips, we usually end up here, but we definitely think twice before spending our hard-earned cash for middling service.
The best fish and chips restaurant in the GTA. Family run, Mississauga Marketplace Fish & Chips has a friendly staff and a menu with exactly what you'd expect.
The Alaskan halibut was lightly battered and cooked to perfection. I can't imagine eating Fish and Chips anywhere else. It may be a 30 minute drive to get there, but it's worth it.

We came across this place last summer on our way from Midland to London....since then we stop off each time we and relatives get together......the food is supreme, the service is wonderful, the atmosphere is great.....when family members, friends and associates want a place to meet, eat and mingle we tell them there is only one place in Mississauga that we frequent and that is the Martgplace....Bravo.....ever consider settingup a Marketplace in Midland at the north end of thec County of Simcoe?
I visit at this location at least 3-4 times a month. I have NEVER had a problem with this establishment. The food is ALWAYS great as well as the staff!! Try it you'll LOVE it!
