Spicy Olive is a great restaurant with great food and entertainment! My wife and I had a stuffed chicken and a veal parm it was excellent and the service was fantastic. Would recommend this restaurant to anyone! We stayed for the entertainment as well. We always come to Spicy Olive when we come down!
Rolled the dice on this place, being locals we don't usually go to sit down restaurants in town. This place had a number of good reviews so, we gave it a try. Meal was bland and boring. We sent the appetizer back, it was tasteless and too thin. There was maybe 1/2 cup of spinach dip served with chips that seemed like they came out of a bag. Chicken parm was overdone and dry, sauce was uneventful and bland and again, pasta portion was maybe 1/2 cup. Pizza was like cardboard with motzarella cheese on top. Again, sauce was bland and boring-mozzarella was fresh as was the basil. We did mention all of these issues to the server who listened with somewhat sympathetic ear. She did give us 1/2 off the appetizer and 1/2 off the pizza, She asked for suggestions as to how they could make it better. "Homemade??" I was VERY surprised to hear the server say that everything was homemade. I would suggest they get more selective with their recipes. This was $40 wasted.
We decided to eat at Spicy Olive and what a great night it was!. We have been there before just for the entertainment but never for dinner! Our server was very welcoming and friendly. Prices were very reasonable especially for being near clifton hill. The restaurant was extremely busy with two big parties. Our food took about 25 minutes to come to our table and was well worth the wait. Would defiantly return next time we are in the falls.
After waiting for service in another restaurant and not being acknowledged by the server, we left and walked down Centre Street to the Spicy Olive. Are we ever glad we did! We went outside of our comfort zone and tried the spicy pizza with olives - it was amazing! The server was very charming and attentive. We would absolutely come back and try some of the fantastic-looking pasta dishes!
We've been travelling to many cities and countries, but my family and I have encountered the worst service ever in a restaurant in our own backyard (Niagara Falls). Last week, We went to spicy olive bar and grille and waited to be service for almost 20 minutes. We were ignored for no apparent reasons and they lack in servers on a weekend. (No wonder it was so quiet) If you don't want to waste your valuable time and be upset while at the Falls, there are plenty of restaurants on Victoria Ave. Fortunately, we went to another restaurant 20 seconds away from spicy olive bar and grille to fill our tummies. Service is always more important, especially for a restaurant in a tourist attraction landmark. Takes years to build your name and you can ruin your reputation (self destruct) in one night.
Last night my family and I took a side street off the main strip and found this wonderful Italian restaurant. Our waitress approached the table right away and told us about the specials. It was very busy but the service and food alike did not reflect that. The homemade manicotti was amazing. The shrimp pasta was the perfect serving and the kids just loved the NY pizza. We were happy to find this little Gem and will be excited to return in the fall.
Just got back from a great meal out. It was very busy but surprisingly our food came out pretty quick. The chicken parm was amazing. My husband had a pizza and couldn't finish it because it was very large but he loved it. The service was pleasant and prompt. Thanks again and a special thanks to the gentleman outside who convinced us to come in. We'll be back next time we're in town!
I was persuaded to dine there for my 50th birthday, by the employee trying to bring people in. once i got to my seat the atmosphere was good, looked like a nice place. unfortunately their food not so great. my wife and daughter ordered the Cosmopolitan drink, that tasted like bad cough medicine. for the appetizer my family and i shared the spinach dip but had trouble eating it because the chips were incredibly tough to chew. i ordered the stake, which was good. my wife had ordered the Atlantic salmon, which the waiter said is supposed to be a bit charred on top but this was BURNT. i had tasted it and you couldn't taste the fish at all, it was the worst way anyone could prepare that meal. my wife was so disgusted she told the waiter she didn't want the meal and to take it off the bill. that was the worst restaurant experience i've ever had. if i had known it was going to be that bad i would have grabbed a big mac at Mc Donalds.
We went to this restaurant with pretty good impression based on these reviews here, but my good impression turned into the WORST experience in my life just 20 mins after we walked in there. It was Thursday night and there was only one table with 7~8 parties. When we walked in the server who was serving a big party looked at us but she kept on doing her job so we waited. After 15 mins we were waving to two guys who looked like manager or bartender that were talking each other near the bar and they finally saw us but completely ignored us by turning their head to other side and kept on talking. I was so furious that I didn't want to stay there any longer so we just left. I've never had this much neglectful service in my entire life. No matter how good or bad your foods are you can't win with this kind of "ATTITUDE" in this business.
The portions were a very good size and the food was great. The calamari was exceptionally well done (most restaurants over cook calamari). I was impressed with their reasonable prices considering they are just at the end of Clifton Hill. The prices weren't overly inflated. The server was attentive and pleasant. The decor in this restaurant was well done, modern and clean. It was a very comfortable dining atmosphere. Although the music could have been turned down a notch it wasn't intrusive or offensive.
Absoltuly loved the Spicy Olive! Had great service and food. Our server and the hostess staff were very sweet, and were at our tables just enough (I don't like when servers at your table several times during a meal). Will definatly come back!!!
The food is pretty good but they need to work on a few things if they want repeat business. Wait staff should bring glasses of water to table to welcome visitors. Also fresh parmesan and black pepper would be a nice touch when your meal arrives. Menu looks like it came from a hamburger joint. Not sure if we would return as there are many choices in the area.
We went for lunch on Saturday March 14th, 2009 and the food and service was exceptional. We will absolutely visit this restaurant on our next trip to the falls. Their lunch sandwiches are delicious and extremely reasonable. As mentioned the calamari is a must. Service was wonderful. Very efficient and fast bringing drinks and refills.
My girlfriend and I recently enjoyed a great meal at Spicy Olive. Very friendly server, let us take the time to enjoy our cocktails before ordering our mains...and fantastic calamari! We have committed to dinner at Spicy Olive every time we visit Niagara Falls in the future..and in fact, we plan on being there this weekend to celebrate her birthday. Great restaurant, great staff, great food, telling all our friends about it:)
Food was great, no much to eat up in Niagara that's worth the money but this was.
After reading all these positive reviews, I decided to give it a try, and I am very glad I did. The pastas were awesome, all with a hint of spiciness (I should have known, given the name of the restaurant). Veal chop was overcooked but meat was still tender. Bruschetta was prepared to perfection - crispy on the outside, but still soft enough inside. Three minor complaints (won't deter me from going back): 1) the coke was totally flat; 2) it took too long for the food to get to the table; and 3) $3 for a side of caesar was not worth it. Very friendly service! Overall an A-.
This is a great restaurant, a little off the beaten path on Centre Street. Parking is on the street or in a pay lot. The calamari was great, not greasy and not overdone. I am sorry that I didn't have anything more high cuisine than a pizza, but it was very good, very crispy with lots of cheese. Servers were friendly and the prices are reasonable given everything else in Niagara is jacked up. The 12" pizza was 9.95, calamari appetizer 9.95, caesar salad 7.95. The entrees were priced from $10.95 pasta dishes to over $20 for some of the beef dishes.
This place is a hidden gem. Great tasting food and good service and a nice place in itself. Will definitely go back to this restaurant !
The ambiance of the restaurant is fine, but I don't care for the layout. They have created large booths for a large party. Booths are not suitable for larger groups and it limits the seating for smaller parties as the staff is reluctant to use them. The view to the street opens up the restaurant nicely. In terms of the menu, I did not like the fact that the entrees were not accompanied by a small salad side. This was poor. Note to menu planner: try to balance the meals more. No one wants to buy a medium size salad on top of an entree. The restaurant is moderately affordable, but bear in mind that parking is difficult especially in summer, and that it will most likely be pay parking also as the restaurant has none.
We specificity chose Spicy Olive do to the rating on this site on our weekend getaway. The pricing is very very reasonable. The service was friendly, courteous, and at its finest! The food it just sooooooooo good, and very good portions....perfect! We had the Calamari - very large portion with a surprizing low price. My husband had the Gnoccli and loved it . I had the seafood spaghetti - very generous with shirmp, scallops etc... Please franchise this restaurant!!! From Linda & Jeff - Aurora ON
