Been here several times. Good sushi. They are consistent and generally pretty quick. They even give canned pop along with their AYCE. The butterfish is the best!
I've been here about 30-40 times and can say Hockey Sushi has some good, some bad. The food is generally solid. Most of the food tastes pretty good, and the sashimi and sushi is relatively fresh. There is a decent selection of things on the menu, and they improved the menu a couple years ago. Their beef rolls are great. The place gets pretty busy on weekends, with 30-50 minute waits on Friday or Saturday nights. The waitresses will neglect you when it gets too busy, and you have to flag them down. When busy, you probably will lose a few orders. One of the waitresses is occasionally rude or angry, although the rest are ok. If you get seated downstairs, good luck on getting much service at all. Despite all that, we keep coming back because it's good food, not too expensive, and a solid all you can eat sushi experience. It's one of the better sushi places in the area.
I would take out but not eat in again - not best experience to say the least - iced tea was served in unopened pop cans (!) , when asked for glasses they gave us cheap plastic glasses, no ice, had to ask for ice, soy sauce bottle all greasy from previous clients, menus were simply piled up on a table, not given to people individually. One of us wanted four pieces of sashimi - they charged her for a full dinner buffet because they didn't offer sashimi on a lunch menu! In general a feeling of being neglected. Would not recommend to my friends.
Decent quality food, but I've had better for similar prices. The atmosphere is ok, but again nothing spectacular. All in all a very average place, if not slightly below.
We have been here 4 times for dinner and the food is great. We haven't had a bad roll yet. Try the mango roll, tempura sweet potato roll (Yes! They know the difference between Yam and Sweet Potato!), and their dynamite roll. It's worth waiting 10 minutes for fresh sushi. If you're in a rush, order ahead of time and pick-up. This is pretty much a take-out sushi place but there are several seats for eat-in. but so good ouples sit and enjoy. Tell Mr Jim I sent ya
This is our favourite sushi restaurant. I take my wife here at least once a month and we eat as much Japanese sushi as we want for no more than $20. We have california rolls, foto make, tapa maki, kapa maki and salmon and crab. They have the freshest ingridients and a authentic atmosphere. Highly recommended. Mrs and me are very happy.
