Bellwoods Brewery

Mike Clark and Luke Pestl got to know each other pretty well while working together at a downtown Toronto brewery. It didn't take long before they realized they both had a dream of owning and operating their own brewery one day – and they figured their collective degrees in biochemistry and biochemical engineering would come in handy at some point!.

The two brewers decided on one of Ossington Avenue's quintessential mechanic shops and set to renovating. In addition to the brewery proper, they transformed the space to fit a spacious outdoor patio and a cozy indoor seating area with a second floor mezzanine overlooking the restaurant and brewhouse. Adding a bottle shop where passersby could pick up brews to-go until 11pm, Mike and Luke opened the doors to Bellwoods Brewery in April 2012, much to the delight of neighbourhood locals.
