I went to Pallucci for lunch during Winterliciuos. The interior decor is very inviting with wall colours of majestic red and cream white supplemented with wooden panels, chic wall hangings and a generous amount of interior lighting. The food was outstanding and worth it for the price we paid. The butternut squash has a consistent flavour and was not over powering. The pasta was fabulous and the tartuffo was great to cap it all off.
We ate there last night and everything was wonderful. First of all, we were there on a Friday night after a long crazy week, so we appreciated the cozy blue easy chairs we sat in! The bread that started the meal was the best starter bread EVER - warm and crusty, but perfectly soft inside and drizzled with the most delicious in-house balsamic vinegar. Our server noticed how quickly we inhaled it, and promptly offered us more, which we took. Our second portion was even more generous, and he shared their secret of why it's so good. We both got prix fixe menus - he started with calamari, I had butternut squash soup. The calamari was cooked perfectly, and was meltingly tender. My soup was a little thinner than I make it at home, but still very good. Mains were delicious - he had Chicken Supreme, which was moist and flavourful, and my gnocchi was soft and fluffy. I had to take some of mine home to save room for dessert. We had tartuffo and creme brulee for dessert, and while my hubby isn't usually a fan of creme brulee he said this was the best he'd ever had. Tartuffo was great, too. Our server was prompt, friendly, and attentive without being stifling, and he knew all the details about each dish when we had questions. Overall, the best meal we've had in a very long time, and we'll certainly be back.
Started with: GRILLED CALAMARI served on a bed of organic greens with sun dried tomatoes and warm balsamic vinaigrette. The Calamari was tender, tasty, and seasoned just right. This dish certainly prepared me for the next one., Main course: CAPPELINI angel hair pasta with plum and sun dried tomatoes topped with goat cheese and fresh basil. This was amazing! The goat cheese, tomato sauce, and fresh herbs were presented in a more-than-enough sized bowl brimming with hot pasta. I vote this the best pasta dish I've had in the past five years., Final course: Molten Chocolate Cake. Again, another perfect dish and a wonderful way to top off the whole meal.
We had friends visiting and brought them in. The presentation of the food was pretty bad, in fact on the rim of my plate there was actually a big greasy thumbprint, kind of put me off. The service seemed rushed and I don't know if there was a problem there but the staff seemed grumpy and frazzled. I was a little embarrased that we'd brought our friends. Overall, I wish we'd stayed home cooked.
good decore, good service. i've eatten here on many occations and the food is consistantly good. good desserts too!
