Friends Arthur Bezerra, Igor Lopata and Roman Urban had been toying with the idea of opening a cafe for years. They considered buying a franchise, but couldn’t find an existing operation that had the fresh and healthy offerings they were looking for, so they decided to start their own.
Roman began developing recipes for juices, salads and smoothies at home, refining the recipes with input from Arthur and Igor. “We could have opened sooner,” Arthur remembers, “but we wanted to make sure everyone was happy with what we were serving.” The result was Fueled Cafe, which opened in the fall of 2014. In early 2015, they changed their name to Spark Fresh Bar.
