Amazing food and staff, Server Michelle is excellent! Would highly recommend
The prime rib was the best Ive had in a long time. The service and attention and care to detail is top notch and measured. Chef Winstons interaction and banter was on point. Such, that I decided to post a review. I would highly recommend. I went for the sunday brunch buffet, which was so diverse but all well complemented. Will come back for plated dinner with more friends.
Excellent menu, delicious and friendly staff. Have not had better mussels anywhere in the world. Worth the drive to Creemore.
I read a lot of mixed reviews and all I can say is you can't please everyone. My wife and I went for an anniversary dinner and the service was great, food excellent and not skimpy yet not gluttony. Prices were as expected in a higher end restaurant. We both enjoyed the meal and atmosphere. Recommend you reserve a table for a nice quiet evening in a quaint village restaurant for your special evening out. I can't speak to the wine as we don't drink wine but the soft drinks were sparkling!
this place was recommended by some friends who had been here before. maybe it is simply a case of inconsistency on the restaurants part, but the meal was very disappointing and the service very slow. Slow service would not be so bad, if the food was exceptional, but with both the service and the food not up to par....i would not recommend.
There were three of us who went to this restaurant. Sat., Nov. 6th, 010. I had the tomatoe and Bocconcini salad, in a wonderful Balsamic marinade. Very tasty and just the right amount. I then had the lamb shank, floating in a scrumpous French sauce. Delightful! My friends had duck, steak, ceasar, and said they were well pleased.as well. We turned down dessert as we were totally satisfied. Tea at home! I notice that some reviews were just so so. I cannot imagine 'anyone' not enjoying this classic French Restaurant, in the Ville de Creemore. We were delighted and shall return for sure! Soon! LB
To start off my evening out, I drove out to this small town, Creemore. In this town there is not much selection, but the selection I chose was most definitely the correct one. I have heard about this restaurant for many years, and was finally very excited to get to enjoy it myself! When we arrived on a Saturday night they were very busy, but the lady that greeted us said that she would find a way to fit us in ( very good start!!) Then the wine list, they had a blackboard of lovely wines, and a vintage list as well, very impressing, I would say. My family and I enjoyed a lovely bottle of wine from Argentina, which came off of their Special Selection Wine List ( well priced). Now off to the food, I started with the Tomato and Goat Cheese salad, very nicely presented, and the taste; wonderful. Main course, Rack of Lamb, this was by far the best lamb I have ever tasted, the chef could not have done a better job. Now dessert, even though we were full from a great meal we wanted to taste a little something, so we all shared the banana crepe with warm Belgian chocolate sauce, delightful!!! There was nothing about this meal that I could fault, it was the ideal evening out, felt like we had left Canada for a little bit, and had travelled to France.
We went to this restaurant for Valentines Evening. We had made the reservations a week and a half prior. Asked for a nice seat. We arrive, they put us by the bar where they make all the drinks. We asked for another seat, (there where three other tables for 2 around us emply) and were told that we had to stay where we were. Service was terribly slow. Finally got to order some wine, their wine list is lacking. At any rate, we decided that we would try the italian wine that they were promoting as a premium wine for the evening. Good thing we were sitting by the bar, my husband nudged me and pointed to the bottle that they had got out for us. It is a bottle that is readily available in the LCBO for $8.95 per bottle. I asked them if that bottle was for us, and they said yes. I asked how much they are charging for the 1/2 litre. $26.00!!!!!! I siad forget it.Unbelievable. I told them that that bottle is available in the LCBO and certainly is not a premium wine. We sat for another 10 minutes before we got the wine. We have now been there for 30 minutes. Finally got some bread and butter to munch on. Unbelievably, the bread was burnt black on the other side! I called over the lady who seemed to be in charge and complained that the bread was burnt and we could not eat it. She promplty said, "our customers like it that way" Really??? I don't think so. Regarding the food - I had the tomato and bocochini salad. It was a risk, since it was not tomato season. The dish would have been pretty good if they had not ruined it by "drenching" it in reduced balasamic vinegar. In this case, less would have been more. It was literally swimming in vinegar. I then had the duck l'orange, very nice presentation, the duck was pretty good, except the sauce was very bland. And the veggies that came with the meal - brocolli, carrots and a beet, where OK, except the beet as stone cold. It had obviously been sitting in a refridgerator. I think they forgot to warm it up. All in all, I was not impressed. Me thinks that Chez Michel needs some competition in the area so he will improve his quality. He has obviously become complacent.
Wow! This is a superb restaurant. There were six of us and we all thoroughly enjoyed our food.It was a totally wonderful evening. The moment we entered,to when we left it was worth driving for.Our food was prepared with thought ,presentation and taste. The scallops were cooked to perfection and the cream sauce-delicious!Dessert for me was apple tart. The crust mouth watering and the apples we were told local. This was nice.Service was excellent and knowledgeable.Everything the big city offers. We all loved this place and were made so welcome. Will definitely return.Even got to meet the chef. Now that we thought was special!
We were recommended to come to this restaurant and glad we did.The set menu fantastic and great value.Started off with squash soup followed by fresh salmon and for dessert crème brulée.Wow,hard to beat.Everything prepared beautifully. We totally enjoyed everything and the service was impeccable.Ambiance simply lovely. We hope others have a chance to discover this hidden gem. Will definitely return.
I had visited Creemore numerous times always intending to try out Chez Michel. Unfortunately it did not live up to the fine dining experience it claims to offer. The ambiance is poor (vinyl tablecloths have no place in a "fine" dining establishment); servers while pleasant were a bunch of nervous and inexperienced 18 year olds who weren't familiar with the menu; and the food was mediocre at best. The soup was bland and my steak (sirloin, no tederloin on the menu) was well done at one end and medium rare at the other. Chez Michel needs to either shape up, or downgrade customers' expections.
We had wanted to try Chez Michel for a few years and finally took the plunge on a Saturday in August. What a mistake. We were soundly disappointed with the entire experience, as were both of our guests who had driven in from the US. For an alleged fine dining establishment, the service was indifferent, the food was mediocre at best and the ambiance was no better. Our prix fixe menu started with a watery cauliflower soup, which was followed by a steaks that were poorly seasoned and not even close to cooked to order. We hoped that Chez Michel could redeem itself with an interesting-sounding list of deserts but it was not to be. After we had ordered from the list, the server returned to inform us that she had made a mistake and that the deserts we ordered were not available as part of our menu, but would be available for a small extra charge. (The owner later informed us that the server would have had to pay out of her pocket if we stuck with the choices we had ordered.) As the prix fixe choices were extremely limited, we decided to stick with our original orders. Like the rest of the food, the deserts were tiny, and disappointing. More disappointing was the fact that the "small extra charge" for three bad deserts was $32 plus tax. Chez Michel does not come close to living up to its claim as a fine dining establishment. The food is poor, the service is poor, and they nickel and dime their customers. If we were considering giving them a second try, that sealed the deal. I would strongly advise against a visit to Chez Michel. For the cost of a meal there, you could have 2 or 3 better meals at one of the more reasonable and more pleasant establishments in town.
Was told this restaurant was to die for! Service was OK, but does not make up for the disappointing flavor and texture of the meal. Wine was OK, but both meal and wine are very overpriced.
We went in for lunch as 2 couples and as soon as we sat down we requested 2 separate bills, one for each couple. I appreciate that this may make a tiny bit of extra work, but bear in mind that the place was NOT busy (only 1 other table was taken) - the woman (the owner perhaps?) flat-out refused to do it. We said ok, we would sit at 2 separate tables, but no. She wouldn't budge. I found this astonishing for Canada, where restaurants are usually so keen to oblige. Also irritating was the menu - all written on a blackboard across the room, where I couldn't see it from the table. As if this wasn't annoying enough, the waitress then came over and recited a long list of daily specials - I had forgotten the first one by the time she got to the third one... why can't they just write it down - along with the prices - for people to consider at their leisure? The food was OK, nothing special (the fries were not hot), but pretty expensive for what you got. We will not bother to return. Overpriced food and shabby service. A disappointment.
This was our first visit but it will not be our last. There was an ample selection from the menu to choose from, including multiple specials. The meals were presented within a suitable time frame, were prepared perfectly and the portions were just right. The French ambiance was accurate in detail - and that included the music! We have experienced outstanding service at some top of the class restaurants. The service at Chez Michel would fall into this category most assuredly.
We ordered $29 set menu,excellent value.3 courses.Lovely asparagus soup,duck confit,chocolate mousse cake.Well presented,fresh vegetables,lovely sauce.This price is true value.Service was attentive.We really enjoyed this restaurant.Will definitely return.
Not very impressed with the new set menu we had. Which is now $29. not $20. Even at the lower price the value is not there. Would definitely not recommend this place to anyone. Service was poor, atmosphere was OK. But the prices and wine menu are outrageous.
We had a great lunch - fresh crusty bread, an excellent squash soup, a heaping plate of mussels with an rich sauce, and terrific frites. The fluffy omelettes came with tasty mushroom filling, frites and salad - more than enough for a large lunch. Coffee was good (not great) but the service was friendly. Very comfortable atmosphere, and definitely worth a detour to Creemore.
Had dinner in this highly recommended restaurant and was extremely disappointed. Service was OK, meal quality and quantity was brutal.
This restaurant is truly amazing. They really do care about their customers.Food is taken seriously and service also.
