Typical Korean food, nothing fancy and nothing bad.Really poor service - even after an evening of bad service, they simply said they were "busy" and then when we proceed to leave, they said the tip we gave them was "not enough" and blocked us in our booth until we gave them what they (thought) they deserved. Their VIP room and Korean guests were all they were concentrated on serving. Probably a fantastic experience if you are Korean, but if you are not, expect to pay a large tip for bad service.
The servers are terrible. Definitely descriminate against non-Korean.
I went here with my friends and i got the vegetarian lunch special which was pretty good. The sushi was awesome! I loved their kimchi, and the soup that they served before the meal. The service wasnt too bad, they were pretty nice the first time i went. The secound time i went i got the chicken lunch special, but i didnt really like the chicken, and the salad dressing they had on the salad wasnt that good. And the service wasnt as good as the first time i was there.
After seeing *some* favourable reviews and while in the Yorkdale area, I decided to try this place out. So I hope that I'm not being biased after reading unfavourable reviews about their service. We ordered Hwe Dup Bap (sashimi salad) and a dumpling soup with clear noodles - sorry, I don't remember the name. Shortly after placing ordering, 5 side dishes were brought out. Their flavours varied and they were yummy! The salad was perfect for a light, late lunch. Lotsa flavour, especially after adding the sweet/spicy chilli sauce which was provided in a squeeze bottle! My bf said that the dumpling broth was okay. Service-wise, side dishes were taken away, not replenished. And I had to ask for our tea to be refilled! Waitresses seemed waaay more attentive to a table of Korean men. Maybe it's because waitresses are more comfortable speaking their own language. So although service wasn't terrible per se, be a bit proactive to get even better service!
My boyfriend and I absolutely love this Korean restaurant. Everytime we travel through Toronto we will stop here to eat. We always order the galbi and haejangguk. The haejangguk is the best I have ever tasted, even better than in Korea!
