“I think people are just tired of eating poorly,” says Gabriella Budani, the spirit and spatula behind the Oshawa vegan takeout, Nourished On The Go. “I don’t just get vegans dropping in for a bite to eat. I get people who simply want a healthier diet than what they’ve become accustomed to.”
You wouldn’t normally connect fast food with vegan dishes, but that’s exactly what Gabriella has created in response to a local growing curiosity about food that tastes delicious and is good for your body. Her takeout specializes in speedy service of made-to-order vegetarian and vegan dishes, which include the likes of Alfredo pasta with a sauce made from nut oils rather than cream and a hearty meatless stew.
Mindful of the busy lives people have these days, Gabriella has provided some dishes from her menu that customer’s can order in bulk and freeze for several day’s supply of dinners at home. If you want to take it a step further and learn the tricks of the vegan trade yourself, Gabriella runs private lessons on Sundays. Primarily a takeout, there is seating for six at Nourished On The Go.
