Sick of beer? Still suffering from a wine hangover (wine-over?)? You don’t need to hang up your drinking hat – just switch to craft cocktails. These Edmonton speakeasies elevate the art of cocktail making with fresh ingredients and creative combos.
It may be a nightclub full of twenty-somethings grinding to a thumping beat till the wee hours but don’t let that fool you – Central Social Hall takes its drink menu seriously. You can go beyond amaretto sours and rye and cokes here (not that there is anything wrong with either of those). But expand your late night palate and try a blueberry smash or one of their other fruity, fizzy, fantastic cocktails. Wake up feeling fantastic. Repeat.
Co-owner Andrew Borley used to own a craft cocktail catering service prior to opening Woodwork in 2013, so you know he knows his stuff when it comes to cocktails. This isn’t a place where you come and order a rye and water – you need to prepare yourself for cocktails that will take you out of your comfort zone, in the best way possible.
Located in a historic house in the High Street district of Edmonton, this classic restaurant offers up modern twists on cocktails. The bartenders have clearly had fun naming the drinks – A Bison Named Gibson, Penicillin, Choke Artist, Meat Hook? You’ll find all those whimsical cocktails here and more.
This gastrolounge serves up craft cocktails infused with herbs, such as lavender and mint. The bartenders break it down by modern and vintage, so you can decide: What kind of person do I want to be tonight? Am I the kind of saucy lady who drinks Old Fashioneds and Pimm’s Cups? Or do I prefer to sip on watermelon mojitos and lavender rocks? Either way, you know you’re in for a good night when your drink smells even better than you do.
