he Drama Queen at The Next Act is their vegetarian burger option. Served with avocado, pea shoots and cheddar cheese, it sounds strange but is a perfect pairing. They also prepare a balsamic‐marinated grilled tofu sandwich, which technically isn’t a burger, but is definitely worth mentioning.
Served on whole wheat flatbread, their “From the Garden” burger is a delicious vegetable patty, melted mozza, sautéed mushrooms and basil pesto aioli.
Located in the heart of downtown’s warehouse district, Blue Plate Diner serves up some of the best veggie and vegan food in town (labelled on their menu so you don’t have to ask). Their veggie burger is super popular and they even make a junior‐sized version for those budding vegetarians.
Where better to get a vegetarian burger then a self‐titled “vegetarian and vegan waterhole?” They have a list of eight “burg” options and a choice of four different veggie patties. The “Veggie” burg offers a more traditional burger experience, but for something more unique, try the “Taro Uno.”
nstead of having a traditional patty, try the portobello mushroom burger. The meatiness of the portobello cap is a perfect substitute. And, with chèvre instead of the usual cheddar, it’s the perfect complement.
Here, they cook up their own soy‐free veggie patty stuffed with a bunch of veggies and topped with more goodness in the form of their signature chipotle sauce. Their grilled potatoes on the side are a nice twist to the traditional fries.
They make a pretty mammoth veggie burger patty, probably the biggest I’ve seen. Choose your bun, your “meat,” your sauce, your (free) toppings and your premium toppings. Don’t forget a side of curly fries.
