Brunch is the best meal of the weekend – it brings all of the best parts of breakfast and lunch together in one tasty package. Enjoy a gorgeous brunch with your whole family at these Edmonton restaurants – they’re all kid-friendly, with food mom and dad will love too.
This cute café welcomes kids and groups of all sizes for brunch. The menu is lengthy, and while it’s not child-specific, there are plenty of items that kids will enjoy. Crepes, cinnamon buns, stuffed French toast with Nutella and strawberries, breakfast burritos and yogurt parfaits are just some of the yummy items that both kids and adults will devour happily. There are also lots of dishes that can be modified to be gluten-free or vegan – they offer gluten-free bread and vegan Daiya cheese, too.
While there are plenty of omelettes on the menu, you know you came here for one thing: A gorgeous, firm but chewy bagel. But, since it’s brunch, slap on some protein too. There’s a whole page of eggs Benedict bagel combos to choose from, with a wide range of toppings, and then you still have to decide what kind of bagel you want holding it all up. This place is crazy loud on weekends, so your kids can join in the commotion without judgement.
Most of the brunch menu is catered to adults but there is a special section just for kids – they can order grilled cheese sandwiches or apple slices and peanut butter if they want something different than mom and dad. This is a great brunch spot to take your kids if they have any food allergies; the menu features vegan and gluten-free options and they are good about accommodating allergies.
This lovely brunch spot offers smaller versions of their breakfast, which are perfect for kids. The small Blue Plate breakfast consists of one egg, multigrain toast, potatoes and the choice of one strip of bacon, one sausage or one veggie sausage. For kids who love carbs, there is the small pancake breakfast, which is two small pancakes with maple syrup and a choice of meat. There are also gluten-free options on the regular menu, such as gluten-free toast.
It’s not open on Sundays but their Saturday brunch is still a weekend winner. Their famous eggs Benedict are only available on Saturdays, so why bother ordering something else? This 30-seat diner is tucked away on the north side of the city, but it’s become a bit of a brunch destination for many Edmontonians. Plus, the owner makes homemade pies, and will definitely talk you into having a piece or even taking a whole pie home.
