The country’s top restaurant food trend, gluten-free (GF) dishes can be found on many Calgary menus these days. More than this, many eateries now feature more than mere token GF items and offer patrons both variety and deliciousness in their GF meals.
Much of Blue Star Diner’s elevated diner menu is available gluten free. Here, the gluten-averse can enjoy just about every dish their non-GF pals do, including the chipotle pulled-pork hash, which incorporates soft-poached eggs, sweet potato, peppers, mushrooms and generous pinches of cilantro and paprika.
A number of entrees are available gluten-free at this landmark steak and seafood complex on Macleod Trail just south of Chinook Centre. When in Rome, do as the Romans: order the GF prime rib sandwich served with veggies, fries and garlic toast.
Going gluten-free is A-OK at this sweet and petite upscale eatery in Kensington Village. GF or not GF, take a friend and share the restaurant’s signature seafood platter, which features lobster tail, scallops, mussels, pasta and more.
Featuring an entire “gluten-aware” menu, there are many GF meals to enjoy at Notable, one of the city’s perennially acclaimed fine-dining establishments. From its signature dishes, try the rigatoni “carbonara” with rotisserie chicken, roasted mushrooms, guanciale Pecorino and peas.
