While it’s known more for its amazing frozen yogurt, Bar Teca does serve up bubble tea and smoothies, as well. They open up bright and early at 7 a.m. Monday to Friday, making it the ideal spot to grab a breakfast smoothie before class.
Located inside the Kinsmen Sports Centre, Moo’s Healthy Food Fast serves up green smoothies with a smile. Their creations aren’t just sugary drinks disguised as a healthy option; instead, they load up each smoothie with protein, essential fatty acids, complex carbohydrates and fibre.
This juice bar also serves up some pretty healthy smoothies. The Natural Glow smoothie contains spinach, cucumber, banana, avocado and almond milk, while the Tropical Glow is a mixture of mango, pineapple, melon and light coconut milk. If you like berry-based smoothies, go for the Red-dy to Glow, which combines raspberries, strawberries, apples, carrots, pomegranate and rice milk. For something a bit heartier, try the Almond Glow, which has almond butter, light coconut milk, banana, hemp hearts, cinnamon and maple syrup.
This student hang out, located in the University of Alberta HUB mall, offers health food on the go for those who don’t want to succumb to greasy fast food. The staff whips up green smoothies, with ingredients such as apples, spinach and pineapple juice. And, if you like the taste of the protein powder in your smoothie, you can buy a tub of it right there to use at home.
