Crêpes are more than just really thin French pancakes; they are pillowy soft clouds of dough gently cradling some of the most delicious combinations of ingredients on the planet. Whether you prefer your crêpes with savoury or sweet toppings, these restaurants are sure to satisfy your craving.

The Creperie

1
111-10220 103 St NW, Edmonton AB T5J 0Y8

The fanciest purveyor of crêpes in all the land? Debatable. But when I was a child, The Creperie represented the gold standard of crêpes, and was considered to be quite fancy. The restaurant maintains its high standards with a varied menu that includes vegetarian and seafood crêpes, as well as crêpes filled with other proteins, such as chicken and ginger beef. Their dessert menu contains a multitude of sweet crêpes, of course, such as crêpe a la Suisse – strawberries, cream cheese, whipped cream and honey wrapped up in sweet crêpe.

Crepe Works

2
1878-8882 170 Street NW, Edmonton AB T5T 4J2

Love crêpes but no time to waste with cutlery? Then Crepe Works is the perfect solution for you – they make this tasty, decadent dessert totally portable. Their unique crêpe batter is malleable, and is folded into a triangle so that it can be placed in a paper cone, perfect for eating on the go. They offer both savoury and sweet crêpes, such as Thai chicken, ham and cheese, strawberry supreme and almond delight.

DeDutch Pannekoek House

3
10030 Jasper Ave NW, Edmonton AB T5J 1R2

Dutch pancakes, called pannekoeken, are basically the same as crêpes – really thin pancakes but elevated to the next level, and topped with something sweet or savoury. And, they can be eaten any time of the day, not just for breakfast. DeDutch was originally started by a Dutchman who moved to Canada and brought with him his country’s traditional pancake. Now, you don’t have to travel to the Netherlands to enjoy a crêpe-like concoction topped with anything from strawberries and cream cheese to smoked salmon, edam and hollandaise sauce.

Milcreek Cafe

4
9562 82 Ave Nw, Edmonton AB T6C 0Z8

This family-run café has a crazy-big breakfast and lunch menu, so it can be hard to choose just one fantastic item at a time. But, if you’re looking for a breakfast or brunch that is guaranteed to overload your taste buds with pleasure, then try their crêpes. They come loaded with your choice of bananas with chocolate syrup, strawberries or mixed berries. On weekends, the chefs whip up some savoury crêpes, as well.

Under The High Wheel

5
8135 102 St NW, Edmonton AB T6E 4A4

This lovely spot has three kinds of crêpes on their brunch and dinner menus. Diners can sample a spinach and feta crêpe, with their choice of organic white or buckwheat flour. There’s also a vegan buckwheat crêpe chock-full of roasted veggies and topped with a decadent red pepper sauce. For something sweeter, go for the chocolate and hazelnut crêpe – it’s topped with hazelnuts and a house-made sauce that blends chocolate and coffee together in perfect harmony.

Tiramisu Bistro

6
10750 124 St Nw, Edmonton AB T5M 0H1

This cute bistro serves up several delicious kinds of crêpes, both savoury and sugary. On the sweeter side of things, there’s the Milano crêpe, covered in a heavenly mix of cinnamon cream cheese mousse, fruit compote and maple syrup. If you crave protein, the Calabrese or Napoli crêpe will fulfill your desires. The former has eggs, mozzarella, prosciutto or Italian sausage, while the latter contains roasted veggies, eggs and mozza.
