These restaurants offer wine specials, often discounting glasses or even bottles by up to half of the normal price tag. What a fantastic way to enjoy an old favourite or discover a new one.

They offer a good stock of North American wines, as well as vinos from Argentina, Australia, Germany, New Zealand, France and Italy – all helpfully broken down by country of origin on the wine list. You can sip from a six or nine-ounce glass, or partake in a bottle (no judgement!)
This friendly gastropub holds Happy Mondays, when all bottles of wine under $40 are half-price, and all other bottles are $20 off. They have a massive vino list, with more than 30 whites and just as many reds. A lot of their wines have California origins, but they also stock bottles from South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, Italy, Spain, Argentina, Chile, Canada and France. Match a bottle or two of your go-to vino with some of their snacks, small plates or charcuterie boards.
This Mexican restaurant and tequila bar is known more for their ample stock of agave and tequila than its wine list, but don’t overlook it when it comes to vino – they have a solid list. Plus, every Wednesday night, guests can enjoy a bottle at half the cost. Find a new favourite red or white, and pair it with some guacamole, ceviche or, hey, even tacos!
On Wednesdays, their entire wine list is half-priced. Match your favourite red or white with one of their featured meat and cheese boards, on special for $20 on Wednesdays. They have two reds and two whites on tap, available in 6 or 9 ounce glasses, as well as a list of vino by the bottle, including multiple kinds made right here in Canada. Hockey fans will want to try the Wayne Gretzky Okanagan Cabernet/Syrah, only $40 a bottle (before the discount). Or, treat yourself to the Bure Duration Cabernet Sauvignon, normally $365 a pop.
All bottles of vino are discounted by 50 per cent on Wednesdays at this Mediterranean tapas restaurant. With nine kinds of white and 14 reds available, the hardest part is deciding what you want to drink! Their selection of vino is very reasonable, with regular-priced bottles as low as $32 (and no bottle is more than $80). Pair a bottle or two with an antipasto board or some prosciutto wrapped bocconcini.
This elegant fusion restaurant has a wonderful selection of vino, all blind-tasted and chosen by the owner and staff (they brown paper-bagged each bottle before tasting!). This method ensured that their wine menu is the genuine outcome of the wines they liked best, resulting in a great variety of vinos and a range of price points for you to choose from. On Thursdays, they hold Wine-Down Thursdays, where you can receive $10 off a bottle of wine.
This cool burger spot deviates from the norm and offers a discount on wine on Thursdays. They sell half-price wine, by the bottle or glass, all day Thursdays, giving you plenty of time to try a new vino or three. The wine list consists of seven whites and nine reds, categorized by country of origin – they stock wines from Argentina, Australia, Canada, the U.S., Italy and New Zealand. Each wine comes in a six or nine-ounce serving, or by the bottle. It’s a fantastic way to try new wines at a lower price, without committing to a whole bottle!
This hipster hangout has half-priced wine Wednesdays, with a 50 per cent discount on vinos by the bottle. With 13 reds and just as many whites to choose from, there are plenty of options. Their wines are all reasonably priced, ranging from $29 to $79 a bottle (before applying the discount). They even carry Full Circle and Bonterra chardonnays, certified organic wines from California.
This upscale pizza joint has a great wine list, with about 15 whites and rose vinos available, plus more than 30 reds – and that’s just by the bottle. They have a separate list for the wines they offer by the glass, coming straight from their Fresh Taps system. On Wednesdays, all wine from the tap (available by the glass, half-litre or litre) is half-priced, so you can check out what all the fuss is about – and if the vino really tastes better than it does from a bottle.
This Scottish wine and whisky pub, located on the south side of the city, may be known more for its whisky, but it does have a lovely wine list, with about 20 wines offered by the glass. Their wine cellar contains vinos from around the world, only available by the bottle, and they sell some of these at half-price on Wednesdays, which is a great opportunity to try some of their fancier selections.
