“I’ve been fixing cars since before I could drive them!” says Shorab Malawiya, owner and operator of Binaka Auto Sales & Repair.

Indeed, he first began learning the ins and outs of car repair at Templeton High School. Securing his auto mechanic qualification at BCIT, Shorab honed his skills at a few shops around Vancouver before he moved to Surrey. Not wanting to commute back and forth to Vancouver, he decided to open his own full-service mechanic shop in Surrey in 1990 and has never looked back.

“We try our best to spend our customers’ money wisely, so I am here all day, every day making those decisions about what to repair and what not to repair,” says Shorab. Over the years, he has built his business on integrity, and his friendly, reliable service has earned Binaka Auto Sales & Repair a loyal client base.

“We’re a family-oriented business, so parents usually come in, then the kids come or they have a commercial truck, so they bring that in. It’s all repeat customers,” says Shorab.
