Horrible food, horrible customer service. When the manager was called, he said that he didn't' care. We were only 1 in 1000.
Really good food. Horrible online ordering and delivery experience. What I want is not too much to ask and I am not alone: Take my order, process my payment and the tip, drop the food on my porch and leave. No cash, no conversation, no contact. Two times ordered online from their site (hosted by Beyond Menu) and paid with credit card only to find out that had to pay at the door because payment did not go through!!!!
I honestly almost have no words... from the 1st time we ordered from this restaurant 2+ years, yesterday will be have been our last. The young man whom serves the public every visit, is ignorant and rude. He has made racially sensitive comments that have NO place in today’s society. When my husband called him out on it (as it was the 2nd time) he proceeded to apologize and call him “bro”. Completely unacceptable way of communicating with your customers :/
First time I've ordered from here-everything was awesome!
I've only ever ordered take-out from this place & have never been disappointed. It's always come in a timely manner as well. And the food is delicious. I've ordered from other places & always been dissatisfied. Not this place though. Best Kung Pao Chicken!
I live wihin 10 minutes of the restaurant but was told it would be a $5.00 delivery charge instead of $4.00. Received my order, was hot but order was incomplete. I won't be orderng again.
Being a student at the University of Guelph, Ray's is well known as you are able to use your student card to pay. For my 3rd year being at Guelph I have ate here and got delivery every once in awhile. The food tasted decent and it was all I really knew. However, I have never noticed that their charge for using delivery for on-campus student card payers is $4.50 flat rate regardless of the order. There's no charge for using the student card when dining in - and no other restaurant does this either... it makes no sense why the most expensive delivery (under $18 ) for everyone else is $4. I don't think this is right... Okay so... after hearing this I decided to pay with cash, since my order was $18 - including pan-fried shrimp, chicken chop suey, and beef with broccoli delivery was $3 and my grand total (not including the tip) I would have paid was about $27. They said it would be an hour . Okay it being a friday night I can understand and not a problem I would wait. An hour and a half goes by... no telephone call - and I can see out my window where they would go to deliver. So I decide to call back. They get a little snarky with me and said I didn't answer my phone when they called an hour ago. First of all, they told me it would take an hour, not half an hour! Secondly I gave them the correct extension, I had not left my room - and there was nobody else on the line... and they finally said that the server was on their way. Okay not impressed but whatever. Waited... and waited... looked for him out my window... if he had left at that time he should have been here within 5 mins. Never saw him. Never got a phone call.20 mins later decided to call back. They handed the phone over to the driver and let him yell at me. Not cool. I lost 2 hours of my time. They lost one customer, and they're going to lose many more!
So, I ordered from Ray's Chinese online through Grub Canada. Which turns out to be a terrible idea. I ordered what I wanted and what I THOUGHT I was going to get. So whatever, I pay and am waiting....waiting....waiting....I call Ray's after 1 hour of not receiving my food....on a side note, the confirmation e-mail said 45 min. The answer to this is "We are real busy, it will be there as soon as possible."OK, so another HALF AN HOUR LATER!!!! I get a call from the driver "I am real busy, can you meet me in the lobby." Sure whatever it takes to get my food. So I wait in the lobby for 10 more minutes. Finally, food arrives and I trek it up to my place. Sit down, open it up and OH what a surprise, ITS WRONG!!!! I got completely the wrong order...so I call and spend 15 minutes on the phone with someone who WON'T refund my order and replace it like any normal restaurant. NO! they insist on replacing my order, which I am still waiting on. I'll let you know how long that takes!!!! DO NOT ORDER FROM HERE!!! BRUTAL!!!
Best Chinese in Guelph. We were recommended this place by my brother. As far as Chinese food goes in Ontario, this would be near the top for takeout. We always get their dinner for two, standard, eggrolls, chicken balls, lo mein, rice. Def. return.
The food is your average chinese takeout. It is the delivery that I'm going to complain about. I waited an hour and a half for my food. I asked the delivery man if he had lots of orders and he said no, not so bad tonight. So why did it take so long? If you have a car, go get it yourself. You'll eat an hour and a half earlier.
My husband and I used to get chinese food from Good Taste, which was in the same space as Ray's now is. It is NOT the same owners for sure, as we were hoping. The food was just OK, and I would discourage anyone from ordering the chicken balls. As i feared, they were mostly breading, with an itty bitty piece of chicken in the middle. The only thing I truly enjoyed, was the shrimp. These plump, juicy shrimp were fried to perfection, not to mention deveined!!! Yay to Ray on that!!! Still searching for the best Chinese place in town...
I recently moved to Guelph and my neighbours suggested that we try Ray's restaurant. I'm glad they did because the food was amazing! The ginger beef was delicious! Each piece of beef seemed to be marinated in the ginger sauce. The spring rolls were by far the best i've ever tasted. they tasted like the ones you could get in Toronto. The lemon chicken was very crispy. my boyfriend ate 1/2 the order! however, the lemon sauce was a bit to watery....i would suggest getting the sweet and sour sauce. Thye also include some honey chips with the meal which were delicious!
I love Chinese food and I'm disappointed every time I try a new place in Guelph, or even the same place but picking different dishes. This one is no exception. The hot & sour soup here was a bit strange. It was a little on the sweet side, as if they put some sweet & sour sauce in it, which is just wrong! The egg foo young might have been ok if the sauce was better. You can tell they used too much starch so the sauce was almost as thick as custard, which is just wrong too! The pork used for the sweet & sour dish was really low quality, like tough to chew quality. It's probably a restaurant's secret that they use their worst quality meat on foods that are battered and fried to hide the poor quality, or maybe it's not so secret. The sweet and sour sauce was way to thick and goopy. Even my boyfriend couldn't eat a second helping because the sweet & source sauce was overbearing. This restaurant's name recently change to Ray's but it's still the same poor quality as the old name. I'm not sure if they changed management or changed names to create a new reputation, but the food hasn't changed at all. They included fried won ton's covered with honey. I have to give them kudos for those. I couldn't stop eating them! That's why they got a 5 for food instead of a 4.
On the third time coming in here, the waitress looked up at me, smiled and said, "Ah, takeout? Won Ton Soup?" I can always count on a friendly smile, quick service, and a good memory of my continued patronage. I've never eaten in the restaurant, but I come for take-out about three times a week, whether for just the soup, or the chicken lo mein or Shangai Noodles. I just really dig that soup. The food is amazing, and the service keeps me coming back. I've even been inspired to start using my wok at home. Thanks Ray's for being be second home!
The food is cooked to perfection, staff and chef have got to be the most helpful and friendly in Guelph. They will cook most things the way you want them done. If it is not on the menu, I know that they will prepare what you wish to have. The water is ice cold and no taste of chlorine. The price of the meal is very reasonable. Try the restuarant and you will not be disappointed.
The best Chinese takeout I've had in Guelph and possibly ever! The food was great, not too oily like you get at other places, and service was fast and very polite and nice. We ordered for 6 even though there were 3 of us because we wanted lots of leftovers... and did we ever have leftovers, there was a huge amount of food!
Very Good Best in Guelph honestly, and We have tried them all. Top Quality may pay a bit more but it is worth it.
Not a bad first impression. I i'v been to pretty much all the chinese food restaurants in town. this was my first time here and it left a decent impression. teh food was not exactly the best i'v had but still very delicious. service was excellent and great envireontment.
Food was amazing. Items were unique and delicious. best restaurant in Guelph. Dine - in had amazing service. I went with friends and we will all be going back!
They were fast and friendly when I placed my take-out order, and even though they said it would be a 45 minute wait, they arrived in a half an hour. The food was plentiful, hot and well packaged, driver was great. Wow, can these guys ever make a killer "Shrimp in Lobster Sauce"! I've lived in Guelph all my life and no ones Shrimp and Lobster Sauce compared. Egg Rolls, Broccoli and Beef, Lemon Chicken and Chicken Balls were also all excellent. They give you free sweet won-tons and fortune cookies as well. I can't say enough about how pleased I was, and they are close by being near the University. They have a new customer and number one fan in me! I highly recommend!
