Lane Edwards stands in front of what looks like it could be an elegant bar stocked with bottles. But instead of holding liquor, the bottles are full of unique essential oils sourced from around the world. Lane is the owner of Pura Botanicals, a business on 124 Street that sells a skincare beauty line for women, along with a new line for both baby and mom.
All the products are made in-house by Lane and five other team members – and all of the products are non-toxic, cruelty-free and eco-friendly. “When I became pregnant with my first child, I became very sensitive to all my beauty products. My sense of smell was so elevated, and all I could smell were chemicals,” says Lane, who’s now a mother of three.
She realized many other women probably were also looking for natural products to use of their skin every day – and the idea for Pura Botanicals was born. “A lot of the big box companies use chemicals because they’re inexpensive. And they’re just so unnecessary; I don’t believe they will elevate our health, or even our beauty,” says Lane.
